Christmas here we come!

Yesterday

Every year we say the same thing but we really, REALLY appreciate your support throughout the year!

We've had a super busy 12 months, packed with gorgeous products and exciting projects: It was nice to settle into our new Sydney location and give our Auckland showroom a refresh. We welcomed Pele and Kelly Ann to our team (NZ and NSW respectively). Our Annual Sale was a big success. We had a blast at Industry on Arthur and the various Design Days we participated in. We again had the pleasure of hosting Robert Petit from JAB. We released stunning collections from all our indent brands - who continue to create incredibly beautiful and innovative ranges.

So thank you again - we literally couldn't do it without you!

We know how important it is to get your hands on the perfect fabric sample quickly - so we've made it easier than ever to request multiple cuttings in one go! Whether you’re sourcing for a client project, planning a presentation, or exploring our latest collections, our updated Cuttings Request process has been designed to be smoother, faster, and smarter. Here’s how it works...

Step 1 - When you want to request a cutting
On any product page, click “Request Cuttings” for the designs and colourways you’d like to sample. This adds them straight into your Cuttings Cart - just like adding items to an online cart.

Step 2 - Preview Your Selections
As soon as you add a cutting, a preview appears showing everything in your cart. You can quickly check what you’ve selected as you browse. 

Step 3 - View All Cutting Requests
When you’re ready to confirm your cutting request, click “View All Cutting Requests” or the Cuttings Cart icon at the top of the site. Here you’ll see a full list of your selected designs, brands, and colourways.

Step 4 - Confirm & Send!
When you’re happy with your list, simply hit “Proceed with Request”, and then click “Confirm Cutting Request.” Our team will handle the rest and get your samples on their way!

Introducing Harvest Moon

We were thrilled to hear Kit Kemp and Andrew Martin were working on another collaboration. Their first two projects were hugely successful - the eponymous Fabric and Wallpaper collections. The wallpaper design Mythical Land and fabric Friendly Folk in particular received a lot of love from our clients.
Their new release is the joyful Harvest Moon, a magical collection of prints, embroideries, wallpapers, tapestries and upholstery designs. Harvest Moon beautifully re-creates naive and folk art motifs and hand painted looks. We especially love the hand crafted touches of embroidery and appliqué. It's all combines to create a charming and highly usable range.

Design Review - entries now open!

Andrew Martin are now accepting submissions for the Andrew Martin Interior Designer of the Year award. This is a wonderful opportunity for our clients to showcase the very best of Australian and New Zealand interior design on an international stage. Finalists will be included in the venerated Design Review book, a must-have publication for the interior design industry.

We've had numerous antipodean finalists over the years - it's always such a thrill to see our clients' work showcased and celebrated. Best of luck to all of you who enter. We are long overdue an antipodean overall winner!

New next week - Above the Clouds!

Some exciting news for Monday (6 October): It's release-day for Above the Clouds, Carlucci's 2025 collection of fabrics and wallcoverings. And what a singular collection it is!
As the name suggests the Carlucci designers have beautifully captured the ever-changing splendor of the skyscape with dreamy layered colours, filigree textures and dynamic patterning. The wallcoverings in particular have really caught our eye. If you are looking for statement grasscloths when do check out the Shapes of Beauty book.
Above the Clouds is another fabulous example of Carlucci's 'relaxed glamour' that is never boring, always elegant and wonderfully tactile.

Introducing Salone - Houlès latest

We were so excited to hear about this: Houlès and Michael Aiduss have teamed up again for their second collaboration, called Salone. True to form it’s another stunning collection of elegant, characterful passementerie.
Salone is inspired by early Italian modernist architecture and offers a diverse range of looks - from botanical motifs, to hints of classicism and Ponti-esque geometrics. If you’re a fan of passementerie and the magical things it can do to an interior then call into a Unique showroom and see Salone.

Design Days in Christchurch

Something exciting for our clients in Christchurch later this week... Join Designmade and Mainland Design Centre for 2 days of inspiration as we showcase the latest collections from our suppliers. Start time is 9am for both days, finishing at 2pm on Friday. Visit anytime during the day, there will be no specific presentation times. Courtesy transport will be provided between the two locations.

Visitors to our MDC showroom are in for a treat… I will be previewing Carlucci’s 2025 release Above the Clouds. We can’t wait to give you a sneak peek of this stunning collection. I will also be presenting the new and very swoon-worthy collections from Houlès, including the fabulous Salone - the new collaboration between Houlés and Michael Aiduss.

Next month we have the pleasure of welcoming Robert Petit from JAB Anstoetz back to New Zealand. Robert’s itinerary includes showroom presentations and client visits.

He will be launching Let’s Celebrate, the fabulous new collection from Chivasso.

For 3 days from Tuesday 11 March the Auckland Showroom will be hosting Let’s Celebrate Open Days. It's a great opportunity to see the entire collection before Vanya takes the sampling on the road. Call in at a time that suits you, she looks forward to introducing you to the range. 

Robert will be in Wellington on Tuesday 11 March with Rebecca. The following 2 days will be spent in Christchurch, Queenstown and Wanaka.

Today is our last day of business for both Australian and New Zealand Showrooms, and we would like to Thank you for your support throughout the year.

Reflecting on a busy and successful year – 2024 has been a year of growth and excitement for us. We kicked things off by moving our Sydney showroom, a new space designed to inspire and showcase the latest in luxury interior design.

We also launched our highly anticipated Savanna Collection — a stunning addition to our Unique Outdoor line, perfect for those looking to elevate their outdoor spaces with elegance and style.

In addition to these milestones, we were thrilled to present a range of exceptional new products from our renowned partners, including Arte, JAB, Chivasso, Carlucci, and Zimmer. Each brand continues to push the boundaries of design, and we are proud to bring their innovative pieces to you.

As we look back on all these accomplishments, we are filled with gratitude for our clients, partners, and the incredible design community that has supported us throughout the year. We can’t wait to see what’s next in 2025!

Our fabulous new outdoor/indoor collection Savanna has arrived and it’s looking amazing! 
Savanna started life as a written brief: To create a contemporary, high quality, multipurpose range of fabrics. One that's tough enough for outdoor use but with a look and feel of interior fabric. Inspiration-wise we were drawn to African artisan patterns; motifs from basketry and carving, and colours from natural adobe pigments. The collection includes 2 geometric designs, a stylish stripe, a textured plain and a zebra hide pattern. Available in 4 colourways, Linen, Adobe, Spice and Jungle.Savanna is expertly woven in Belgium by a renown 4th generation family-owned mill. The yarn ticks all the boxes: an excellent lightfastness of 7, 30,000 Martindale rubs, washable, water repellant finish, anti-microbial and Oeko-tex certified.

Welcome to August at Unique - we have a super busy month ahead of us.

Our Account Managers are currently out and about showing the latest releases. With new Contract designs from Arte, Folklore from Andrew Martin, and three new collections from Houlès (Asara, Galons 2 and a new Moss Fringe range) there are a lot of inspiring new products to see.

With Spring just around the corner we have started prepping for the third edition of our annual Clearance Sale. Mark the dates in your calendar: 22 – 31 August! This is always a huge event for us, where we Spring clean the warehouse in preparation for the Spring/Summer collections. Although based in our Auckland showroom, this year we're making Sale items available to our Australian clients as well. Stay tuned for more info coming soon.

We have been able to keep our stock and Textilia prices the same or in some cases reduced due to increased use of sea freight. While it takes time to arrive there are benefits!

We're kicking off our 2024 releases in style: In a few week's time we welcome Robert Petit back to Australia and New Zealand. He has a swag of gorgeous 2024 collections from Chivasso and JAB to introduce to us.

ANDREW MARTIN INTERIOR DESIGNER OF THE YEAR 2024

Earlier today I received an email from Ross Mitchell (Head of International Relationships at Andrew Martin) with the news that they are now accepting submissions for the 2024 Andrew Martin Interior Designer of the Year award.

This award, and the associated publication, is a beautiful celebration of interior design from all corners of the globe. And we are always thrilled to see Australasian designers included as finalists - and perhaps a overall winner one day. It's such a fabulous way to broaden the reach of your practice to an international audience.

LOVE OF LIFE BY CARLUCCI

We're buzzing about this one: Carlucci's 2023 release is here and it's so fabulous! Inspired by the Côte d’Azur, Carlucci's designers have infused this collection with the sights, textures and colours of this beautiful part of the world.

The radiant colours of southern France like hibiscus, azure blue and intense chartreuse shine through, with plenty of sophisticated colour combos and melange yarns.

The prints are show stoppers: We're loving the picturesque scenes in Love of Life, the groovy Coast of Colours and mysterious Stay Forever...

ANDREW MARTIN AND ECOFAST

Something definitely worth noting: Andrew Martin's latest release Secret Garden uses Ecofast™ pigment inks. 

In a nutshell Ecofast is all about lowering energy and water consumption while maintaining performance and high definition colour.

Ecofast is a digital printing process that requires little heat setting and reduces water consumption by over 50% when compared to conventional printing. So lots of environmental wins with this process.

Ecofast fabrics also happen to be anti-micobial, lightfast (6 - 7), anti-mildew - and abrasion, stain and shower resistant. So ticking loads of boxes and I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more Ecofast prints in the future.

ARTISAN STRIPES - FOR THE LINEN CONNOISSEURS

Our Artisan Stripes collection is here!

Designed with linen connoisseurs in mind, it's a limited edition release, hand printed by a local screen printer.

Using eco-friendly, water-based pigment inks these designs are washable (cold water wash only) and Sanforized to minimize shrinkage. The base-cloth is a heavy 100% linen - perfect for upholstery, loose covers and accessories. Please note these stripes are NOT suitable for drapery and blinds.

We are currently making a very limited number of hangers and A5 swatches. Your Unique Account Manager will be showing this special collection soon.
